This year's Kids' Choice Awards are going to be as action-packed as ever, with Will Smith as host, two killer performers lined up and a slew of celebrities expected to be in attendance.
Here are the five things we're looking forward to during the live show at 8 p.m. Saturday:
Katy Perry's Performance Perry is not only one of this year's top nominees, but the "Teenage Dream" singer will also take the stage at USC's Galen Center to present and perform. So what song will she sing? What will she wear? Will her hair still be blue? One of Perry's biggest hits, "Firework," is up for Favorite Song. She is also nominated for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Voice in an Animated Movie for her role in "The Smurfs."
A Host With Big Willie Style Nickelodeon hit the jackpot of high-profile celeb hosts in landing Will Smith for their master of ceremonies this year. Although he's one of the biggest stars around, it's been awhile since we've seen the former Fresh Prince. We've seen a lot of his son Jaden and daughter Willow, who are becoming big stars in their own right, but we are psyched to see what Smith has planned as host. Will he be joined onstage by his kids? Will he incorporate a few of his famous friends into the act, like Tom Cruise? Will we get a sneak peek at new footage from the upcoming "Men in Black III"? We'll have to wait and see.

"All the big stars are going to be there, and when we found out it was just us and Katy Perry performing, we were like, 'Geez, this is a big deal.' "

NBC-17 reporter Jonathan Carlson, who witnessed the aftermath in the terminal, spoke exclusively with members of the flight crew onboard US Airways flight 1697.?
They say the woman got out of her seat and attacked the flight crew, spitting in their faces, knocking one flight attendant to the ground and kicking the crew.? One female flight attendant had bruises and bandages up her arms in addition to scratch marks.
The flight arrived in Fort Myers shortly after 6 p.m.?and was greeted by police and paramedics. The woman was taken out of the airport by police once the plane arrived.? She was observed by medics in the terminal before being taken away. During that time she was screaming and crying.?
The flight crew said a Lee County Florida sheriff?s deputy happened to be on board and helped tackle the woman.? Flight attendants say the woman complained of being scared of flying shortly before she became violent.
The same flight crew on Flight 1697 flew the return trip to Charlotte later?Tuesday night.? They were shaken and looking forward to returning to North Carolina. That flight arrived safely around 9:30?Tuesday night.
Passengers on board were shaken; one saying the woman was restrained against a wall before being tied. Others praised the flight crew on how they handled the situation.

How to cook: Sweet Potato Soup with Caramelized Onions

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cups light cream
1/2 cup sweet sherry wine
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
11/2 cups caramelized onions
Directions:
For your caramelized onions: In the large saute pan melt the butter more than medium heat. Include the onions and saute for 18 minutes. Include the brown sugar, salt and pepper. Saute an extra 10 minutes. Add the vinegar and proceed cooking until the vinegar commences to evaporate and the onions search thick and syrupy, eight to 10 minutes far more. Remove from the heat and let interesting. If working ahead, the onions could be stored within a tightly lined container till prepared to use.
For your soup: Within a stockpot melt the butter over medium-high warmth. Include the garlic, onions, carrots, and celery. Saute for ten minutes. Add the sweet potatoes and saute 5 minutes a lot more. Pour the inventory above the vegetables and bring to a boil. Dear Jeff, You can retire, file bankruptcy and walk away from the house without worrying about any repercussions from the Department of Veterans Affairs, or VA, or Uncle Sam. I don't know of any reason why the government would come after you.
While this might not matter much to you, since you and your wife are on such a limited and fixed income, the VA does not look kindly on anyone who walks away from one of its loans. The agency cannot do anything against you personally, but you would find it very difficult to obtain another mortgage loan through the VA in future.
You ought to contact the VA prior to making this decision. If the mortgage is the only reason you are filing for bankruptcy, you likely could avoid the bankruptcy altogether. The VA has various payment options available, though you would also need to contact the loan servicer. The loan servicer is not the VA itself, but is a public or private entity that collects, monitors and reports loan payments; handles property tax, insurance escrows and late payments; forecloses on defaulted loans; and remits payments on behalf of VA loans.
In many cases, the loan servicer can be difficult to contact. Many people say that reaching a representative to discuss loan workout options can be nearly impossible. The VA has loan technicians in eight regional loan centers and two special servicing centers who actively help veterans communicate with loan servicers.
Here are a few of the options that are available to you if you are willing to make the effort:
Special forbearance. You could be given time to get caught up on delinquent payments. Maybe you know you are going to receive a large tax refund that could bring the delinquent payments current. The VA will contact the loan servicer so that it does not begin foreclosure.
Loan modification. You may be able to reduce your mortgage payment through a modification of the loan terms.
Additional time for a private sale. The property may have a little equity, and you could request a delay in the foreclosure process while you sell the house.
Short sale. The loan servicer may agree to let you sell the property for less than what it's worth.
Deed in lieu of foreclosure. You voluntarily agree to turn the property over to the servicer instead of going through a lengthy foreclosure process.
Ultimately, you need to decide whether it is easiest to simply notify the lender that you are walking away from your VA loan and move out. Though there's no risk to your Social Security, I just think it's worthwhile to explore your options before making a final decision.

A team of scientists from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), University of Hawaii, Whitman College and international colleagues will conduct the first systematic study of life in the deepest marine habitat on Earthocean trenches, which are regions of the sea floor ranging from 19,685 to 36,089 feet (6,000 to 11,000 meters).
Due to the extreme pressures and the technical challenges involved in reaching this depth, known as the hadal zone, trenches are among the least studied environments on the planet. Filmmaker James Cameron's dive on March 26, 2012, to the Challenger Deepthe world's deepest regionin the Mariana Trench marked only the second time in 52 years that a human occupied vehicle has reached that area of the seafloor.
"Over the years, we've made large leaps in understanding life at deep-sea hydrothermal vents, seeps and seamounts, but we know relatively little about life in our ocean trenches," said Tim Shank, a deep-sea biologist at WHOI and lead investigator on the Hadal Ecosystem Studies (HADES) program.
Shank and his colleagues were awarded a $1.4 million collaborative grant from the National Science Foundation for a three-year program of studies in the deepest parts of the world's ocean. The program includes international collaborators at the University of Aberdeen (UA) in Scotland, National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) in New Zealand, and The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) at the University of Southampton.
"The program is global in scope. The goal is to conduct detailed studies of the composition, diversity, and adaptations of life in the major deep ocean trenches and then compare these findings between the trenches around the world," said Shank.
The work of the HADES program is made possible by recent advances in imaging technology, as well as the sampling and exploration capabilities of Nereus, a deep-diving Hybrid Remotely Operated Vehicle developed at WHOI. Conceived in 2000, it took nearly a decade to design and build. On its maiden voyage in 2009, Nereus successfully dove to the Challenger Deep, an area nearly 36,000 feet below the surface, providing new and unprecedented access to the deepest parts of the ocean floor.
"With a robot like Nereus, we can now explore virtually anywhere in the ocean," said Andy Bowen, the project manager and principal developer of the vehicle. "It marks the start of a new era in ocean exploration and research."
The unmanned vehicle can operate either as an autonomous, free-swimming robot for wide-area surveys, or as a tethered vehicle for close-up investigation and sampling. It will allow researchers to gather high definition video along the trench axis, as well as recover organisms and sediment samples.
The HADES program will begin its work in 2013 at the Kermadec Trench, an area roughly 750 miles long and 32,963 feet (10,047 meters) deep located off the northeastern tip of New Zealand. It will later conduct expeditions to the Mariana Trench near the island of Guam in the west Pacific.
This expedition will build on studies of the Kermadec Trench by HADES program collaborator Alan Jamieson at UA's Oceanlab and colleagues at NIWA and the University of Tokyo. Using a state of the art, free-falling autonomous baited camera system, the research team documented many new species of animals in the Kermadec and other trenches around the Pacific Rim in the past few years.
"To date, this method has been successful in observing the deepest fish ever seen alive," Jamieson said. "By combining WHOI's HROV Nereus with Oceanlab's Hadal-Lander technology, the team have the best available technology at their disposal."
Despite the harsh conditions in ocean trenchesicy temperatures, intense pressure, no sunlightsome species are able to thrive there. For one reason, food is plentiful, as organic material in the ocean is moved by currents and pulled down into the abyss.
"We know there's an excess food supply in the trenches, which means it can support more and potentially highly-diverse life forms," Shank said. In addition to sampling these species and imaging the terrain they live in, the HADES team plans to analyze their DNA to begin to unravel how they have evolved the ability to survive in such an extreme environment.
The team plans to examine the food supplies, energetic demands, and metabolic rates of trench organisms to determine the role they play in biological structure of trench ecosystems. Jeffrey Drazen from the University of Hawaii will lead the program's efforts in this area.
"The energy requirements of hadal animals have never been measured before," said Drazen. "Some deep-sea animal groups have 10-fold lower metabolic rates than shallow living species. Metabolic data will help us understand how food supply regulates the distribution and density of hadal animals, which can help us put together a picture of the flow of energy throughout the food web."
Since pressure in the hadal zone can reach more than 16,000 pounds per square inch, the team will also examine the mechanisms that trench species have evolved to cope with the extreme force.
Exactly how these animals withstand intense pressures is not completely known, but scientists are putting together pieces of the evolutionary puzzle. Paul Yancey, HADES program collaborator from Whitman College, noted that although extreme hydrostatic pressure can inhibit the activity of proteins, small molecules called piezolytes may be able to protect proteins from the pressure. Yancey plans to investigate the role that piezolytes play in the adaptation of trench animals.
"Pressure might very well be the primary factor determining what species can live in Hadal zones," Yancey said. "High hydrostatic pressure in essence inhibits and distorts biomolecules like enzymes and other proteins. One way this happens is that pressure traps dense layers of water molecules around proteins, making it harder for them to bind to other molecules which they must do as part of their function."
At more moderate depths, Yancey said, there is evidence of life adapting to pressure in two ways: by evolutionary changes in protein structures that make those molecules more resistant to pressure effects, and with piezolytes, which seem to help remove the dense layers of water trapped around proteins.
"We don't know if either or both mechanisms work at the greatest ocean depths, and whether they work in all kinds of organisms or only some," he added. "These are questions we hope to answer."
In addition to deep-sea life with novel adaptations, there is also evidence to suggest that trenches act as carbon sinks, making the HADES program's research relevant to climate change studies. The V-shaped topography along trench axes funnels resources, including surface-derived organic carbon, downwards.
Hadal zones, Shank said, may be the final location of carbon and other chemicals sequestered in our oceans. Understanding how that sequestration process plays out could reveal clues to ocean trenches' role in regulating the global carbon budget, and ultimately, climate.
"Trenches are the largest unexplored biome on Earth." Shank said. "That's what makes this project so exciting. There will be major impacts on our understanding about life on Earth as a result of doing this work."

Most people get into business because they need more money. They feel that being in business is the right thing and i totally agree with them on this. But knowing what I know after years in traditional business is that small business is very risky, long hours and takes its toll on your health. There is no family time as well as the hours a extremely long with no guarantee of making a decent income.
Another factor that drives people to become their own bosses is a bad working atmosphere. They feel under appreciated and feel they can do better if they do it all by themselves. The first group is a small Sari Sari Store: This is when some goes about doing something all? by themselves.? There is no backup as you are the business. No one to help you if things go bad financially. Here the investment can be from 50,000 to 100K pesos as an initial investments. The capital is very small for business and will give the owner a chance to earn php 8,000 to 30,000 php a month. The risk is not much as the investment is small. The return or ROI though small is quite quick and relatively easy. The competition is stiff in the Barangays with other sari-Sari stores around. Though you have no experience you can learn fast. The hours are long in these small businesses and there is not much of a social life to look towards. It can affect your health.
The second Group is that of Small Franchises:? In this group we see people investing in mini franchises such as Food carts, etc. They do this feeling secure as franchises are known to give the new business owner a system that is proven to work. The investments is are much higher than sari-sari stores around the 250,000 pesos mark and maybe quite expensive for the average Filipino. Its a very competitive business and the risk is high. You carry most of the risk and though it is a franchise it does not guarantee huge success with its name. Its just a small proven business system that can work if competition is low. The return of investment is over a few years if you can make it work.
The third group is big business: This is the Jolibees and Macdonalds. Not many can buy such a business system.? The risk is huge as you are looking at investments of over 35 Million Php. The ROI is over 15 years and though competition is huge you can do well as you buy a good brand name. You get the skills, know-how as you are buying a proven system. The incomes can be well over 200,000 pesos a month. This is good incomes in Philippines.

Just because you like something will not necessarily make you a success.? Then you need to look for how to make this system duplicable so anyone can do this and make you money. Once you have this figured out most of the hard work is done. Its only when a system can be duplicable without you being present and the produces big results is when you have found true success.

Lastly you need to find people who sees your dream, are willing to embrace your dream and make it a reality and help others in reaching their dreams. Its when you have passed on this message very clearly to your team and when they follow the system just as you have set it up, will you find true business success.
